This Website's Design
This website has a very basical design with a splash of color thrown in here and there for effect. The following information has been provided for those who may find it of interest.
ACSO Labeling
ACSO Occasionally you will come across a little label bearing the acronym "ACSO" that represents the abbreviation for "A Consumer Survivor's Opinion". This label has been created to quickly, better highlight blurbs representing the personal opinion of this website's creator.
The label will most often appear in correlation to a quote from a respected source and will be this particular psych survivor's opinion as one who has now been there, done that.. Human error notwithstanding, each label will contain a link back to this page for ease of explanation.
HTML Coding
In its very original form, Six. Almost Seven.. was once web hosted through the generosity of Yahoo!'s GeoCities free web hosting program.. These days, it is published through (warning, advertisement coming) GoDaddy.com.. To that end, if you happen to encounter any accidental HTML coding errors due to that this website is lovingly crafted by hand, please feel free to contact the webmistress and let her know..
Validation
As best as is possible within the limitations just mentioned, this site is being designed to pass several levels of validation related to accessibility. Currently its design validates as HTML 4.01 Strict and CSS 2.01.. Regarding this website's accessibility, next on the webmistress' agenda includes jumping the validation hurdles presented by the recently improved WCAG's recommendations and WebAIM's Web Accessibility Versatile Evaluator (WAVE)..
Quickie Websurfing Tip: To turn off often annoying error message alerts in Internet Explorer (IE), try the following: Click Tools on the toolbar; Click Internet Options; Click the Advanced tab; put a checkmark next to Disable script debugging; make sure there is NO checkmark next to Display a notification about every script error. This method or a similar variation may also be provided by other Internet web browser applications.
Accessibility
With regards to accessibility, all links and images have been coded with title and alt tags for screen readers.. Acronyms have also been labeled wherever possible for the benefit of everyone. In most web browsers, the user's cursor, when placed over the top of any given acronym, should change shape to display the user's system-preferred Help cursor (most often a question mark) along with a tool tip display expanding the acronym for reference purposes..
Website Navigation
Great painstaking energies have gone into setting this website up with a navigational system that remains as consistent as Humanly possible throughout the site.. Each public webpage has been provided with:
- A top skip link option for screenreaders..
- A main left sidebar navigation block that expands and contracts as warranted based on the topics at hand..
- A consolidated set of bottom navBar highlight links that either return visitors to the active page's content or leads them on to other topics within the website and beyond..
To additionally aid in a web surfer's visit, a navigational breadcrumb trail of sorts can be found on each page somewhere just before the main content begins.. Following this breadcrumb trail backwards from right to left eventually takes one back to this website's homepage setting..
