Dial 1-800-SUICIDE
(1-800-784-2433)

The national 1-800-SUICIDE phone number is self-explanatory. It can be found referenced on many, many websites offering educational information about suicide prevention.

ACSO Personal experience with hotlines in the past has provided a couple of situations which just absolutely cannot occur if one is going to promise the availability of a Lifesaving service, ANY Lifesaving service. In one instance, I repeatedly dialed a hotline number and got either static or the old "This number is not in service at this time" message for some reason. In another, when it really, really counted, I was mechanically put on hold where I sat for an approximate ten minutes with no interaction from a live person..

It is imperative that the best that is humanly possible is being done at all times to provide services being promoted to save Lives.. There are untold individuals we will never know of who did not make it when they turned to this type of safety net and it failed them when they needed it most desperately..
